ABOUT  EMILIE, OWNER OF THE NEW PEN

I am originally from France and came to live in Ireland in 1999 where I studied English literature. I hold an MA in English and was a PhD candidate whose research focused on Margaret Atwood’s short stories.

Life led me on a different path and I co-founded a cat welfare charity for which I volunteered for eight years, fulfilling many roles (from social media manager to fundraiser, animal welfare officer to volunteer coordinator). While with the organisation, I developed various marketing skills, which I was able to improve when joining The Everyman’s marketing team in Cork in 2018.

In this role, I have been able to utilise all skills acquired to date, particularly my proofreading skills. I have a keen eye for detail and am consistent, which enables me to correct material to a high standard. I have now decided to further use these skills to go back to my love of words, texts and books by creating The New Pen and sharing my abilities in order to improve your work for publication.
